Military Ball 2009

I'll try not to cry...

The Dress.
I had picked up a homemade, modest dress at Goodwill a couple of years ago. It is gorgeous. A baby blue, square neck line, butterfly sleeves, absolutely modest and gorgeous. It was this year that I decided to wear the dress to Military Ball. I only had to have the top brought in so it fit correctly. Sister Stay was a big help with this. She fixed the sleeves so they were bigger, and set them in, correctly, as well as bringing the top of the dress in for a slightly, for a snugger fit. She did an awesome job. I thank her so much for her fine work.

The Hair.
For the second time in my life, I had my hair done. I wanted an updo that somewhat reflected the medieval theme of my dress. When I walked in I told the girl, doing my hair, that I wanted it completely up with a little poof on top. I also told her that I had a tiara that I wanted worked into it. It was really tricky for her to get all my hair up, for the back is shorter than the sides and front. She managed and did well with it. About halfway through I decided that I wanted a little bit of bang showing, but still completely up. She decided that a side swoop would do the trick. And the side curls added just the right touch. I loved it! The service is great and the people wonderful.

Bringing A Friend.
Everyone kept asking if I had a date to Military Ball. Abe (current boyfriend) wanted to come, but wasn't able to be there. With that small detail, I decided to take Shannon. She had joined Jrotc at the beginning of the year and by second semester decided to complete her English credits, thus dropping Jrotc. She had planned on going to Military Ball, and still wanted to. So, I took her.

Senior Gifts.
It was so totally awesome to walk down the Saber Team Arch of Sabers. I was completely thrilled that it was my turn at last. Mark and I were partnered to walk in together, it was then that I truly saw that he was a gentleman. Most of the pairs had awkwardly turned to face the crowd. Not Mark and I. He gently took my by my right hand (with his right hand) and gracefully guided me around to face the crowd. Gentle. Graceful. Beautiful. As my little bio was read a few chuckles emitted from the audience. Then I eagerly awaited to see what crazy gifts they had come up with, this year.
Triff (Brianna Triffiletti. Triff for sort.) decided to try and make things funny, as well as practical. For example, Kevin plays tennis, so he got three new tennis balls to add to his collection. He's also known as a "ladies man", so he got three Barbies. "Women who'll never leave him." *big chuckle* I could only imagine what they got me.
When it came to me, they gave me two miniature horses, "For my love of animals, especially horses." and a giant bookmark "Because I love to read." I laughed and probably went a little red. I liked it though. Really liked it.

The Dance.
Awesome! I danced mostly line dances, with a few group dances thrown in. It was so much fun. The electric slide, the chacha slide, YMCA. It was totally cool, that is until I got tired. Haha. I watched people dancing a few line dances, I didn't know, trying to pick up on the dance. Smiles. Energy. Fun.

*sighs* I'm going to miss it, but the memories will always be with me.

I'm glad you had a ball! (get it...) I love the addition of pictures. They illustrate your story nicely. Good job, girl...
